Heartport Mitral Valve Surgery

This procedure repairs or replaces your damaged mitral heart valve without the need for a large incision in your chest. Small incisions are made between your ribs. Small scopes are used to repair or replace the damaged valve. With this procedure, you’ll spend less time in the hospital (usually 1-3 days), recover more quickly, and experience less pain and trauma.

Not every patient in need of valve surgery is a candidate for this procedure. There are certain criteria that will be evaluated by your surgeon before he or she determines if you are an appropriate candidate.
